The International Scholars Office (ISchO) facilitates the arrival and adjustment of international scholars who visit MIT to teach, collaborate, and conduct research.
Most of these visitors are invited to MIT with an academic appointment, such as postdoctoral associate or fellow, instructor, lecturer, visiting scientist, scholar, engineer, or tenure-track faculty. Visitors attending executive education seminars, programs and conferences on campus are also considered scholars.
ISchO supports international scholars and their families through weekly orientations and by providing expert guidance on issues related to immigration, travel, and employment. ISchO also works with departments, laboratories, and centers across MIT to train administrators on visa processing.
