Traveling Abroad

The ICC is here to help you plan and execute a successful trip. The process can be complex, but we have gathered a range of resources and information designed to help guide you along the way, providing key information related to health and safety, planning, and logistics.

We also outline key steps for travel preparation, and provide a series of links to government agencies, MIT offices, and other organizations that can help you both before and during your trip. The health, safety, and security of MIT community members traveling abroad is our top priority. Please contact us with any questions or concerns.

Effective March 13, 2020, the Domestic High-Risk Review Committee is suspending MIT-sponsored domestic student travel. If you have a case of essential travel (of critical national or global importance), you may apply for review. Others should cancel their upcoming travel plans. Travelers who previously applied for, and were granted, approval for MIT-sponsored domestic high high-risk travel are now being informed that their approval for MIT-sponsored travel has been rescinded.

The ICC organizes regular information sessions focusing on international travel. Find slides and videos of past sessions here.
